At Leith Wheeler, our equities are managed by teams of seasoned investment professionals. Leith Wheeler’s analysts are well recognized within the investment community for their depth of knowledge and experience.
We do our own homework and think independently. Bottom-up, fundamental analysis is key to our investment decision-making process. We seek out companies with sustainable advantages and reasonable business valuations, and we expect management’s interests to be aligned with those of shareholders. We only invest if we have a high level of comfort in the long term business model and management team.
We pick stocks as though we are buying the whole company. Experience has shown us that a company's stock price does not always reflect its real value. This is particularly true during economic downturns and periods of excessive market hype. Our efforts are focused on finding solid businesses that are likely to produce strong returns and offer attractive reinvestment opportunities over the long term. Often these businesses are under some temporary cloud or competitive pressure such that their value is not clear to the market or lacks the speculative appeal or trend of the moment.
We are not driven by short-term performance or a need to build market-like portfolios. We take meaningful positions in the companies we buy and have the discipline to hold them long enough to allow for events to unfold. Our size enables us to purchase small and mid-cap names where market pricing is often less efficient, and to make them a meaningful part of our clients’ portfolios.
